Learn About Pets &
Celebrate the
Human Pet Bond!
Marley & Belle - Glamorous!
Humane Education applies to both our children and us as adults. When we
enter into a relationship with a pet it's important to relish the joys, and
learn to withstand the trials.

Humane Education is one way we can strive to teach our youngsters and
each other how to understand our pets and how to practice compassion
and empathy for our animal friends.

When we celebrate the Human Pet Bond, we broaden the thought
process—Pet Ownership
is a lifelong commitment to care for and love an
animal.

There is a wonderful benefit in teaching kids how to celebrate the human-
pet bond.  By bonding with animals, children have been found to grow and
develop into caring humane individuals that can better understand how to
meet the needs of others including animals.  The school of thought is that
by nurturing the human-pet bond in kids, they will become natural
advocates that the animals of our society can count on.  In turn, children
who are taught to be interested in the welfare of animals grow up with the
tools they need to become responsible pet owners.  The domino effect is
thought to be, that the more responsible pet owners we raise, the more
forever homes we create for pets.  Eventually evolving into a society where
pet abandonment is a rare occurrence.

How could this be made possible?  The answers are found in educational
programs that include virtue based lessons.

Humane Education is a wonderful way to teach young children to love their
world and those that live in it.  Value based teachings inspire people of all
ages to strive for the good of their communities and society in general.
Humane Education programs have been proven to be an essential part of
our children’s education and why we find overwhelming support by so
many states.  In addition to state support, The U.S. Department of
Education and the Federal Government continue to show tremendous
encouragement for Humane Education programs and its teachings.

Humane Education has had the proven capability to instill compassion and
respect for all living beings.  With a focus on being concerned about the
welfare of animals and the environment as a whole, it also has the
potential to raise generations of positive, productive and altruistic
individuals.

As parents and educators become more aware of the struggles that
youngster are faced with, it has become clear to many that value based
teachings in the classroom is a positive way to raise healthy, caring and
kind kids.  As those children grow into adults they are equipped with the
tools necessary to lead productive lives that outreach to others with
compassion and kindness.  Many of these youngsters grow up
understanding that Humane Education played an intricate role in their
education.  Some choose to pursue careers in social-minded and
community based professions like, social work and animal welfare, or as
doctors, teachers, veterinarians and civil lawyers and a variety of
environmental careers, as well as many other socially conscious
professions.

Everyday both children and adults are faced with many choices that have
to do with their core value system.  Studies have shown that by providing a
solid foundation of core values, the choice to be responsible, have respect
for others, be fair and live with honesty and integrity are easier.  It’s also
been shown that by knowing the difference between right and wrong
kindness towards others can also become a part of a young person’s
value system.

Because we live in a world full of hardships that often tests our moral
standards and core value systems, most of us look for ways to improve our
personal lives and the world around us.  Every time we embrace and
support a Humane Education program, we lay the foundation to developing
good character and humane choices in ourselves and those around us.
Whether at home or in the classroom, value-based lessons are a necessity
for our young children and something we can count on for a kinder future.
